Chapters/councils are prohibited from running online raffles without express permission from the Volunteer Operations staff due to the many and complex regulations surrounding interstate gaming laws. Chapters/councils must follow all federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to online sweepstakes – ideally using the TU Online Fundraising Platform.

The TU logo is protected by trademark and use of the logo requires special licensing permission and an Memorandum of Understanding between TU and the partner using the logo – especially in cases of fundraising. Contact your Volunteer operations staff to discuss proposed logo usage for fundraising by other entities.

A conflict of interest policy is recommended best practice for all chapters/councils and the IRS asks organizations that file a 990Ez or full 990 if they have a policy in place. Review TU’s conflict of interest policy template and other risk management resources.
